today a girl whom i admire asked me
“are you happy?”
i replied cautiously with a withering “yeah i guess”
but i lied what i meant was “I’ve been trying but not yet”
that question took me so off guard coming from someone else.
but if anything it made me realize
that someone sincerely wanted to know if i was happy.
